Bronzy Everyday Makeup with Bronze/Black Gel Eyeliner :)

I'm finally done with another makeup tutorial!

This time round, I've added in my commentary.. and "Gahhhhh!!", I must say it's not the most confident thing that I want to do.

I always feel I sound weird/super kiddish over the microphone or phone, which is apparently very true! (go see the video.. OH MY!)

So, when I first started making makeup tutorials, I only used subtitles for the step-by-step guide. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a go and tried recording my commentary.
I must say recording commentary is indeed less tedious than adding subtitles to the video!

Although the video is up, I still feeling a little uneasy about it... :S
Let me know what you think!
I've set up a poll on the top right hand corner, so do place your inputs over there to let me know :)

Anyway, here's the look...

Hope you like this look and I shall talk to you soon...
Happy Chinese New Year to All!

Look of the Day :)

Here's what I wore on Tuesday!
It was a lazy and restless Tuesday for me......

I was going to have dance practice in the evening so I wore something which I can dance in. I was too lazy to bring extra clothes to change.
Moreover, I practically don't perspire at all (people around me will know! Esp my dance peeps), so I have the comfort of not needing to bring extra clothes for dance practices!

Step-foot GREY leggings with a loose & slightly see-through top.
Of course, I have a black spaghetti underneath :)
Taken in my Sis's room :)
This outfit really explains my mood that day... Gloom gloom gloomy!

I had on very simple makeup.. a little gold, bronze & browns.
Do excuse my puffy eyes & face... It was very early in the morning!
N this day was one of those days when I wake up with monolids!!
On my lips was M.A.C.'s Creme D' Nude, and I top it off with NYX's round lipgloss in 24 Karet:

Lastly the nails...
Gold shimmery polish with a MATT finish! SUPER

So that's about it...
Let me know if you like "Look of the Day (LOTD)" posts...

Till next time,
Bye!

DIY: Flaky Scalp Home Remedy

Are you a "victim" of DRY, FLAKY scalp???

Fret not!!!
I found a simple home remedy that works!

Before we go into the DIY remedy, let's look at what causes dry, flaky scalp.

Dry, flaky scalp can be caused by many, many factors.
It could be your diet, climate, your lifestyle or even the products you use!

Hot shower baths are also known to cause dry scalp, especially if you have the habit of using hot water directly to wash your hair! :S
It is best to use LUKEWARM water to wash your hair, skin and particularly your face.

Also, dry, flaky scalp could occur when the glands on your scalp are clogged up. This will not only make the skin on the scalp dry and flaky, you may even feel itchness.

So, it is important for you to keep a lookout on what causes your unhealthy scalp.

I suffer from flaky scalp too and I usually get them...
  • After a few consecutive swims.
  • When my hair ain't dry enough before I go to bed.
  • The day after my dance competition because I would pile on lots of gels and hairsprays to keep my hair in place throughout the competition!

Other than that, most of my days are "ALL-CLEAR" days :)

So here's what I need:
You may want to use a spray bottle rather than a pail for easy application.

I'm using lime juice bought off the shelf from the supermarket. Almost pure lime juice without any sugar... Undrinkable straight from the bottle! >.<

STEP 1:
Pour out approximately 1 part of the lime juice.
You can use lemon juice or apple cider vinegar as well.
(WARNING: Apple cider vinegar WON'T smell very niiiccceeeee...)

STEP 2:
Add 2 or 3 parts of normal tap water. Mix it well.

STEP 3:
Wash your hair with your daily shampoo and rinse off with water.

STEP 4:
Pour the diluted lime juice on the affected areas, then all over your scalp.
Leave for approximately 10 minutes before rinsing everything off.
And there you go!
If you condition is pretty severe, you may want repeat these procedures for a few days before the flakeness clears up.

Alrighty, hope this helps!!!

Oh oh, remember to include lots of fruits and green vegetables in your diet. Vitamins A, B, C and E found in them are necessary for healthy skin and scalp! :D

Nat

Haul from the USA!

Goodies brought back from NY!

Well, of course I didn't went there but these were brought back to me by Wanxuan.
Thaaankeeew...
So excited!!

Here they are:
Photo credits goes to the bf! :) Even though my watermark is on it.. Hee!
I have this habit of not using the stuff I bought immediately (unless I ran out of them), so I've only tried 3 of the above products.

(click on the product title to read more about the product details)

I can't use eye creams because they tend to be too nutritious for my eye area and I will get small bumps on my lids. So EYE GELs are my best friends...

Had a pretty hard time finding an effective eye gel and I'm glad I finally found it!!!
After applying this on my lids, I can feel a warm (very very slight) sensation and after a while, the gel just get absorbs!
I've never felt so before when using the previous eye gels that I owned.

2) NARS Makeup Primer with SPF 20 (50ml)
My first NARS product! Yeah!
I finally decided to get a face primer because I noticed more shine around my t-zone lately...
I used to have dry skin and my makeup can last me ALL day LONG... However, my skin has changed up quite abit and i have combination skin now (but more to the dry side though).
Anyway, I like this product! Tried it and like it! Less shine at the end of the day! :)

2) M.A.C Paint Pot in Bare Study (5g)

BARE STUDY - Pearl finish and almost duo chrome
It was really hard to get a good picture that reflects the true colour! But I think we have got it!!! :)

It's a champagne colour with a slight tint of peach, and it has some very fine shimmers in it.
Truely a nice colour and I really like the pearl finish!
It is hard to find shadows that have pearl finishes.. They usually end up very shimmery...

Anyone likes pearl finishes like me? Let me know what you have found!

Swatch:
A closer look at the colour in the pot:
So that's about all for this post...

Thanks for reading!

And if you have any recommendations for good eye gels or pretty eye shadows...
Drop me a comment!

*HOT* Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer

Hey Peeps...
I finally got hold of the Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Noir (261)
and I really recommend this!

Bought them from Watsons but I must say it was really not easy to find them...
I went to a few Watsons only to find them out of stock (I meant the ones in Noir, that is black)!

I wore it for almost 12 hours and see how great it is!

Notice how long-lasting the eye pencil was even at the lower lashline??
My sis got them and she was truly impressed as well, especially when she has oily lids. After which, she was so excited that she decided to stock them up! She got herself another 3, I got another 2 and my mum bought 2 as well!

The best part is...
Watson's having 20% off now and these are going for SGD 6.30 each... *Yeah!*

Anyway, I was told SaSa's Waterproof Eye Definer is good too!
I went to the outlet in cck to get one but it was sold out...
Hmm, anyone tried that out?
Let me know ya...

Meanwhile, I will go hunt for one!
Talk to you soon!

[Loreal Paris] HIP Cream Shadow Paint!!!

I found something again!!!
Yeah...

In my previous entry, I used Loreal Paris HIP cream shadow paint in 807: Secretive. Lisa bought this from the USA & gave it to me :)
I also received another shade, a metallic dark grey (909: Steely).

I'm really glad that I'm able to get hold of these and give them a try! Creamy yet it doesn't crease, & a little of it goes a LONG way.

Unfortunately, these are not available in Singapore's retail stores yet.
However, I was surfing on Gmarket one day and I found them!!!
*Woots woots!*
Here's the link:
Details from the link :)
They are selling them at SGD 8.00 each! Sooo affordable, so I think you should grab them :D
Nice packaging that really makes yo feel like an artist!
These are the available colours:

Too bad.. the colour "Steely" is not available.

Anyway, I think these colours are suitable for all over the lids and great for neutral looks. They do have some shimmer in them but they are very fine ones which adds nice shine to the lids...

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Ciaoz for now,
Nat

My "Lazy Days" Look...

*Yawn... Yawn*
I'm sure all of us have experienced days when we are feeling lethargic and we really don't want to spend so much time on makeup!

So...
Here's the look on my "lazy days"!

I'm not using any liquid or gel eye liners... and no mascara...
They are definitely not my friends on these days!
I will probably be smudging them all over my eyes... Hee!

Just a simple, fast, purple & soft smoky look:

This is how I do it:

Here are the products used:

- LOREAL HIP cream shadow paint in 807: Secretive
AVON true color eyeshadow quad in No. Q708: Purple haze quad (I only used 2 colors - Purple & Amethyst)
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
- H&M Wet&dry eyeshadow in Ciao Ciao Venice
- A regular Black pencil eyeliner (I recommend Rimmel's Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer... Review coming up!)
- Bourjois ambre stretch in No. 01: Intense black

Hope this helps!

Covergirl In Singapore!

Hey people!
Guess what......

I found COVERGIRL in Singapore!
(erm, okie.. Just the mascara) :)

If you have read my recent fav+review entry (click here if you haven't!), you will know that I mentioned we can't find COVERGIRL in Singapore's retail shops.

I was at Arab street on Friday to purchase some swarovski crystals and I dropped by Haji Lane to take a look... And that's where I found the mascara @ The Blog Shop!!!

The Blog Shop gathers items from various blogshops and you can finds almost everything there: shoes, bags, clothes, accessories & of course, the MASCARA! (Haha!)
Some very interesting items can be found there too.

The COVERGIRL Lashblast Volume mascara (waterproof) is sold at SGD 16.90, and there are many other types of covergirl mascara there too!
Go take a look!

I tried contacting the actual online shop that is selling the mascaras, to get more info but I've yet to receive any reply.
Anyhow, I'm glad you can easily get hold of the mascara now!

I did a random search online and I also found this seller: http://mascara-page.blogspot.com/
She's a local seller who sells various cosmetics from overseas. You can order from her if you are a tiny-whee bit lazy to make a trip down to Haji lane :)

Hope you guys are as happy as me to know this exciting "news"!

Thanks for reading!

Coloured Contact Lenses + A Confession

Hello Twenty-11 :)
This is my first post for this year and I have a confession to make...
so just keep reading!!

I promised to have a post on online sellers for cosmetic contact lenses whom I used to buy from and would recommend.
However, recently there have been just too much reports in the news about how harmful these lenses can be to our eyes.
And I'm sadly one of those who were affected by the use of these coloured lenses.:(

So, I've decided to encourage you NOT to buy coloured lenses from online sources.

In case you don't know how these lenses can harm your eyes, here are just some issues mentioned:
  1. There can be misfit of the lenses to your cornea because these online lenses online comes only in one fit, yet everyone's cornea has different curvature. So it is only best if you can get an optometrist to decide if the lenses are of good fit to your eyes. Poorly fitted lenses can cause abrasion to your cornea and that's NO JOKE!!
  2. These lenses are thicker and hence allow less oxygen to get to your eyes. As these lenses don't allow your eyes to breathe easily, sellers usually advise the maximum  number of hours of wearing to be 8 hours.
  3. Recent reports of discolouration of the lenses, which causes much damage to the cornea!
Read more at http://www.moh.gov.sg/mohcor/parliamentaryqa.aspx?id=21306

I know you might be disappointed because many online sourcers sell these lenses at very low prices and have a wide range of varieties... but don't be!

Optical shops are now selling recognized & approved coloured lenses at low prices! There are 1-for-1 offers and 50% discounts...

And, here's my confession to add on...
As far as I hate to admit, I did choose to forgo all the warnings given about these lenses, ignore my mum's disapproval and venture on to try something I never tried before.

Well, I did follow the precautions given like washing of my lenses with proper solutions, not wearing them for more than 8 hours etc... and I only wore these lenses about once or twice a week!
However, I realized my eyesight started to deteriorate and I thought it's because I've been spending alot of time in front of the computer and lack of sleep. I went for a check and my degree did increased so I ordered more lenses with a higher degree.
With these lenses that allows me to see clearer, I became more reliant on them and wore them more often. Unfortunately, it came to a point where my eyes got tired and a little painful after a few hours of wear and I couldn't even see clearly with the lenses on!

I was pretty freaked out and my eyes were bloodshot!! I can hardly even open my eyes. I had to go to specialist and the experience wasn't good!
I made 3 trips in all to get my eyes treated. Doc said my cornea was so dry and almost flaky.. Final conclusion, viral infection.
On the first two consultations, NO improvement after all the medication.. only on my 3rd visit, my eyes got better. Worst of all, SGD 400 was spent!!!
All my medication
Come to think of it.. see, it's really not worth it!
I really hate to admit is my fault but well, this is a confession to make!! :P

Of course, I'm not so sure if the coloured lenses are the sole culprits (and as much as I hope they aren't that harmful), I'm posting this in hope that you will take my experience into account before making purchases in future.

If you really want to get coloured lenses, go to the local optician shops and get the optometrist to test the fitting of the lenses for you and seek their advice. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Well, I think you get my message and I shall not weigh the mood down too much on the first post of 2011.

Here are just some pictures I took previously when I wore the coloured lenses.
My 1st brown lenses (taken with flash) - The colour wasn't obvious.

Same brown lenses (without flash) - See how big the lenses are?
Grey lenses with dark rim
Golden blue lenses - Very unique colour which I love! Btw, my bf was wearing blue lenses from optical shops... They are tri-tone blue.. Nice colour!
But may be a little too "over" to wear them on a daily basis / during the day! :P
Green lenses! One of my FAV! (maybe I can do a makeup tutorial on this look!)
Another pair of grey lenses - Definitely my FAV!!!
I bought hazel and purple lenses too, but I returned them to the seller after my eye condition worsened (the seller is kind enough to refund me the money!!).

So these are just for memories... NO MORE COLOURED LENSES for me!!!
Boohoo! A little sad but once bitten, twice shy!!
Take care of your peepers People!!

Loves,
Nat
